I’m Chihiro, a Japanese-Australian kimono dresser, educator and content creator based in Sydney.

I grew up between cultures, with Japanese traditions forming an ordinary part of family life long before I thought to put any of it on the internet. These days, I share the world of kimono with an international audience through education, storytelling and the occasional cultural side quest.

I’m a qualified teacher and a JTTI-certified kimono dresser, with a particular interest in making Japanese culture accessible without flattening the details that make it interesting. My work ranges from practical kimono education and cultural content to collaborations with brands, restaurants, tourism and cultural organisations.

What began as a rather niche corner of the internet has grown into a community of people curious about kimono, Japan and the stories behind both.

I’m still learning, too. Preferably from people who know considerably more than I do.
