Learn

Start with a Yukata.

See where it takes you.

Learning to dress in kimono can look quite intimidating from the outside. There are layers, cords, accessories, rules, and an impressive number of Japanese words for pieces of fabric.

So we start at the beginning.

My kimono courses are designed as a progressive pathway, beginning with Yukata and everyday kimono dressing before moving into formal kimono, dressing other people and, eventually, Furisode.

Along the way, you’ll learn not only how to dress yourself beautifully but how to understand what you’re wearing, look after it properly, and actually function in it once you leave the house.

Private lessons and small-group lessons for up to three students are available.

Before you begin

What do I need?

Before your first lesson, have a look through the equipment guide for your course.

If you're starting completely from scratch, you'll find my recommended shopping list inside, with the specific accessories I prefer to use and teach with.

Already have a collection of kimono bits and pieces? Go through the checklist to see what you already have, what you're missing, and hopefully avoid buying your fifth koshihimo set for no particular reason.
